Job Description

The National Solar Observatory (NSO) is seeking qualified applicants for a postdoctoral position at its Maui, HI facility. NSO staff are primarily located at the National Solar Observatory headquarters, housed on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado, and at the DKIST Maui offices in Pukalani, HI.

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with NSO staff and/or community-based scientists on research related to the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST). In particular, this position is focused on the development and testing of data-driven 3D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations. Candidates should hold a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a related field. Students nearing completion of their degree program are encouraged to apply but should expect to graduate by Fall 2020. The positions are for duration of 2 years, with the possibility of extension for an additional year contingent on availability of funding.
