Overview
A full-time position as a Research Assistant in Astrophysics is available in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The primary research focus is the "Survey of HI in Extremely Low-Mass Dwarfs" ("SHIELD"), a multi-wavelength study of extremely low-mass galaxies in the local universe. The position duration is flexible depending on the mutually agreed start date.
Responsibilities
Work will include the analysis and interpretation of data from the Jansky Very Large Array, the preparation of scholarly journal articles, and the presentation of results at national meetings. Work will likely be completed in a remote setting due to the current health situation.
Qualifications
1. BA in Physics and/or Astronomy, and a strong interest in Astronomy or Astrophysics as a career.
2. Scientific analysis skills, including but not limited to, preparation and presentation of data.
