Job Description
The Astronomy and Astrophysics group seeks to appoint a Research Fellow to work with Prof. Thomas Marsh on white dwarfs in compact binary systems. They will work on the nature of and the search for pulsar-like rapidly-spinning white dwarfs and pulsating white dwarfs in binary systems. They will also work as part of a team that operates and exploits the high-speed CCD cameras ULTRACAM, ULTRASPEC and HiPERCAM, based in Chile, Thailand and the Canary Islands.
Candidates must hold, or be about to obtain, a doctoral degree in astrophysics or a related field. Experience with one or more of UV, optical and near-infrared observations and data analysis is desirable, along with experience of research on compact stellar remnants.
The position is available until March 31, 2023.
