The Space Imaging and Optical Science Laboratory at Cornell University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the design and analysis of exoplanet imaging space missions. The postdoctoral associate will work in collaboration with Prof. Dmitry Savransky and graduate/undergraduate students on development efforts for the EXOSIMS software framework and the Imaging Mission Database. This position will provide the opportunity to work with the Nancy Grace Roman Coronagraph Instrument Community Participation Program (CPP) to plan for the Coronagraph technology demonstration mission, as well as the opportunity to work with NASA's Great Observatory Maturation Program (GOMAP) Science, Technology, Architecture Review Team (START) to establish science goals for the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO). Applicants with experience in exoplanet imaging technologies, science yield modeling, and open source software projects are especially encouraged to apply. 

The start date is flexible from January-September 2024.  The appointment is for one year, with continuation up to two additional years contingent on satisfactory performance and funding availability. Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in mechanical/aerospace engineering, astronomy, physics, computer science, or a relevant STEM discipline by the anticipated start date. This is an in-person position located in Ithaca, NY.  Ability to work legally in the United States is required.
