Job Description

Applications are invited for up to two postdoctoral research positions to work with Prof. Jonathan Granot and Dr. Paz Beniamini at the Open University of Israel (OUI) on high-energy astrophysics. Particular topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the study of gamma-ray bursts, magnetars, relativistic jets and fast radio bursts. The work may include both numerical and analytic studies, as well as detailed comparisons between theory and observations and some data analysis. Relevant experience in such types of work is an advantage.

The positions are for two years, possibly renewable for a third year contingent on satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. Starting dates can be between now and the Fall of 2021. Some funds are available for research support (travel, computing, publication fees, etc.).

The OUI main campus is in Ra’anana – a lively city in central Israel, and close to other universities.

The OUI is committed to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should email a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, brief (up to ~3 pages) statement of research interests and experience, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to Prof. Jonathan Granot: [email protected]. Complete applications received by December 31, 2020 will receive full consideration.
