Post-doctoral research position in neutron star astrophysics and simulations
Job Summary
Job Description
Applications are invited for an eighteen month research position, with a likely extension for another twelve, at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center in Warsaw for work with Professor Włodek Kluźniak’s group on simulation of neutron star accretion flows and jets, or possibly on the evolution of transitional pulsars. We welcome highly motivated applicants with a PhD in astrophysics or physics awarded not earlier than 7 years ago.
A proven track record of research in the field under consideration is a prerequisite for the job. Expertise in transitional pulsar astrophysics or a strong background in MHD or GRMHD simulations will be a definite advantage for the candidates. The selected candidate will have a leading role in performing GRMHD simulations of accretion, MHD simulation of jets, or developing a theory of transitional pulsars, depending on the candidate’s background and interests.
To apply, please visit and follow the instructions on the official announcement page.
Compensation and Benefits
The position is financed by a generous grant of the Polish National Science Center, number 2019/33/B/ST9/01564, entitled „From Transitional Pulsars to ULXs - radiation, jets, and outflows in accreting neutron stars”.
