Job Description

Department of Astronomy (DoA) at Tsinghua University invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in observational, experimental, and theoretical/computational astrophysics. Tsinghua University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, and is also highly ranked internationally. It is presently undergoing a major expansion in its astrophysics program.

The current research at DoA spans a wide range of topics, including cosmic reionization and 21cm cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, circumgalactic and intergalactic media, exoplanets and planet formation, active galactic nuclei, supernovae, and X-ray binaries. In addition, the faculty members are involved in developing instrumentation for X-ray satellite missions, and ground-based facilities. DoA strives to create an accommodating and stimulating academic environment for researchers of all nationalities. English is a working language.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field. A complete application should include a CV, a list of publications, and a statement of previous and future research. The applicant should also arrange for three letters of recommendation (five for those applying for tenured positions) to be sent to the same email address prior to the deadline. The main selection criteria are research accomplishments and potential for future success. Successful candidates will be offered internationally competitive salary, startup funding, subsidized housing, access to dedicated high-performance computing facilities, and, if applicable, lab space for instrumentation R&D. The expected starting date is September 1, 2020.
