Job Announcement Text:

The Department of Physics at Florida State University invites applicants for two postdoctoral research positions in Cosmic Microwave Background cosmology.  Appointments will begin in Fall 2019 or sooner.  The positions are jointly supported by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Postdoctoral Scholar Program and an NSF-funded grant to develop data analysis techniques for the next generation of CMB experiments.  Associate Professor Kevin Huffenberger will supervise the positions.

The researchers should expect to work on algorithm development for map making and power spectrum estimation, data analysis for Advanced ACT, pipeline development for Simons Observatory, and forecasts and preparation for CMB-S4.  Other ongoing projects relate to polarization foregrounds for B-mode measurements, Sunyaev-Zeldovich stacking and cross-correlation, and CMB lensing.

The FSU astrophysics group has other strengths including studies of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence simulations and the physics of supernovae.  We support collaborations throughout the group.

The Dean's Scholar Program requires the teaching of one course per year, which allows the participants to gain practical teaching experience.

A PhD in astronomy, physics, or a closely related discipline is required.  Applications should include a CV, bibliography, and a statement of research interests and experience.  Please arrange for three letters of recommendation.  All materials should be sent directly to [email protected].  For full consideration, materials are due 11 January 2019.

FSU is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive community that is welcoming to all faculty, staff and students. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to fostering and promoting the values of diversity and inclusion.  Florida State University is an Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action/Pro Disabled and Veteran Employer.  http://www.hr.fsu.edu/PDF/Publications/diversity/EEO_Statement.pdf
