Description

Fermilab seeks outstanding applicants for a post-doctoral Research Associate position. This position is aimed at exceptional recent PhD recipients and those with a proven research record from prior postdoctoral experience in observational astrophysics and cosmology. Fermilab is currently the home institution for the Dark Energy Survey (DES), which is starting its fifth year of observations of the extra-galactic sky towards the southern galactic cap. This 5000-sq degree dataset in 5 filters provides unprecedented analysis and discovery opportunities. In addition, Fermilab is involved in the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) construction and preparations for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST). There are also opportunities to participate in the development of new projects targeting dark energy science and related detector R&D and to interact with members of a broad range of scientific, engineering, and technical departments throughout the laboratory.

Position is for a period of up to three (3) years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter.

Respect, understand, and value individual differences that embody the principles of diversity.

Abide by all environment, safety, and health regulations.
