The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo invites applications for CITA National and Canada Fellowships. The astronomy group at the University of Waterloo consists of 15 research-active faculty members, and is currently expanding due to major new investment. As part of this, it is likely that a new Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics will soon be formed within the University. Research is undertaken in several areas including cosmology, large-scale structure, CMB, gravitational lensing, black holes, galaxies, clusters, quasars and sub-mm astronomy, with interests in a number of future experiments including Euclid, CCAT, CFIS, and LSST (https://uwaterloo.ca/astrophysics-and-gravitation). The group has a close connection to the Perimeter Institute (https://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/), which is located just a short walk away.
We welcome applications from excellent candidates in any field of astronomy and cosmology that would enhance the research program of the department. Fellows would be expected to undertake a program of original research either independently or in collaboration with others in the group.
Applications for CITA National and Canada Fellowships have to be made at https://icat.cita.utoronto.ca/pdf/ by November 10th. Candidates are encouraged to contact the University of Waterloo first, formally emailing a CV, bibliography, research statement, and asking three referees to send letters of recommendation to [email protected] before November 1, 2018. All applications will automatically be considered for other available postdoctoral positions at the University of Waterloo. Informal inquiries about these positions can be made to Will Percival ([email protected]).
The University of Waterloo respects, appreciates and encourages diversity. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals including women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
