Job Description

The Department of Physics & Astronomy invites applications from individuals who can contribute through their research, teaching, and service to the growth of our department. A one-year contract faculty position is available 8/21/20, where the successful applicant will teach courses at the undergraduate level, primarily introductory courses for majors and/or non-majors and participate in departmental service-related activities of the university at a level associated with a contract-faculty position.

Minimum qualifications: Earned MA/MS/MAT in physics, astronomy, physics education, or science education (with an emphasis in physics) from an accredited institution. One year teaching experience at the college level gained concurrently or at any time.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, physics education, or related discipline from an accredited institution. An active research program in physics, astronomy or physics education, involving undergraduate- or graduate-level students, and a strong commitment to the teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students. Effective communication skills in both the classroom and laboratory setting, with three or more years of successful post-secondary teaching experience.
