Job Description

Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Pisa invites applications for a research fellow in the field of astrophysical cosmology. The researcher will work in conjunction with Prof. Andrei Mesinger, as part of a research team studying Cosmic Dawn and Reionization, funded by the European Research Council Starting Grant Award “AIDA”. The position is for an initial period of two years, and is renewable upon satisfactory performance.

The successful candidate will work on statistically quantifying what can be learned about high-redshift galaxies and cosmology from the redshifted 21cm signal and/or other reionization observables. Active participation in international collaborations is expected, including the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) and the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Arrays (HERA). Experience in data science, statistical analysis, 21cm theory and/or simulations is particularly encouraged, but not required.

The successful candidate will have access to dedicated and institutional state-of-the-art computing facilities, as well as generous travel and research funds. Interested parties are invited to review the official announcement published on the SNS website and follow its instructions if they wish to apply.

All applications (including a completed application form, CV, publication list, and a ~2-4 page research statement) must be submitted via the online application system by Jan. 15, 2020. The candidates should also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be uploaded to the site by Jan. 19, 2020.
