Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in infrared extragalactic surveys with the SPace Infrared telescope for Cosmology and Astrophysics (SPICA) at the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) - Osservatorio di Astrofisica e Scienza dello Spazio (OAS) in Bologna.
OAS is one of the main departments of INAF, the largest infrastructure in Italy for research in Astrophysics, made by a network of 16 departments spread across the country.
The successful candidate will join the SPICA team and the extragalactic group in Bologna, and will work on the physical and evolutionary properties of galaxies and AGN, performing feasibility studies of mid- and far-IR surveys with SPICA.
The appointment is expected to begin between May and July 2019 (to be agreed with the successful applicant), and will be for two years (renewable afterwards, subject to fund availability and performance review).
Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Carlotta Gruppioni (email@example.com) for additional information. The official call for applications, along with all the relevant documents and guidelines, can be found at:
Preference will be given to young researchers who obtained a PhD degree in Physics or Astronomy in 2014 or later. Previous experience on IR extragalactic surveys, multi-band source catalogs, evolution of galaxies and AGN, and survey simulations will be an advantage.
Applications should be submitted via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org by March 15, 2019. Up to three reference letters should be e-mailed separately to: email@example.com by the same deadline.
INAF is an equal opportunity employer and women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
