Job Description

 

The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Heidelberg University invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) in Computational Physics (f/m/d).

This professorship has been established in the context of the Cluster of Excellence STRUCTURES, within the framework of the German Excellence Strategy, and is available permanently. It is based at the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics within the Center for Astronomy at Heidelberg University.

The new professor is to strengthen and extend the research activities of the Department, the Center for Astronomy and the Cluster of Excellence in theoretical astrophysics. We are looking for an internationally leading researcher who studies complex astrophysical systems and processes using computational methods. In addition, we expect the new professor to give new impulses to the general area of computational physics within the STRUCTURES cluster, and thus contribute significantly to its scientific success.

As for all professors in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, duties include teaching physics students on all levels and participating in administrative tasks of the department.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the State of Baden-Württemberg) a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications.
