The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Troy University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in astronomy. The position will start immediately upon the completion of the hiring process. The selected candidate will be working with a distributed telescope platform to analyze images of satellites, derive orbital observations, and develop calibration software to optimize calculations. The work will include conducting a survey of relevant open-source tools and libraries, reading research papers and implementing algorithms, and potentially releasing this software as open-source. The candidate has access to TBs of real-time images of different orbital objects and gets a chance to do a deep dive into the current state-of-the-art for extracting information from astrometric images.
