The Heising-Simons Foundation invites applications for their 51 Peg b Postdoctoral Fellowship program in Planetary Astronomy, of which Berkeley is a host institution. Applicants apply directly through the Heising-Simons Foundation website (www.51pegasib.org).
51 Pegasi b Fellows who are hosted at Berkeley can work with faculty who are members of the Berkeley Center for Integrative Planetary Sciences (CIPS), including Kristie Boering, Bruce Buffett, Eugene Chiang, Imke de Pater, William Dietrich, Courtney Dressing, James Graham, Raymond Jeanloz, Paul Kalas, Michael Manga, Philip Marcus, Burkhard Militzer, and David Romps. Relevant research areas at Berkeley span astronomical observations of the solar system, Martian geodynamics and geomicrobiology, planetary interiors, planetary atmospheres, planet formation theory, protoplanetary disks, and the detection and characterization of extrasolar planets. Special attention will be paid to candidates with broad interests and expertise who can bridge Berkeley's Earth and Planetary Science Department and the Astronomy Department.
