Job Description

Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions at Tel Aviv University to work with Prof. Ehud Nakar (theory) and/or Prof. Dan Maoz (observations, data analysis) on the broad topics of explosive transients (supernovae, kilonovae, gamma-ray bursts), their progenitor populations (massive stars, binaries, double white dwarfs, double neutron stars,...), their nucleosynthetic yields and their effects on chemical evolution. Applicants should have a PhD in physics or astrophysics. The appointments, funded by the ERC programs of the two PIs, are for an initial period of one year, with possible extensions for up to three years. Applications will be considered and potentially accepted continuously. Starting dates are flexible, from immediate to one year after acceptance. The positions include ample funds for travel (observing, conferences, collaboration), publication fees, computing (including a dedicated multi-core, 2000 cpu, computing facility), and access to observing facilities (Wise Observatory; Las Cumbres Global Telescope Network).

Applicants should email a curriculum vitae, a brief description of research interests, and arrange for three reference letters to be sent to Ms. Daniella Gabrielovitch ([email protected]). Pre-application inquiries with either of the PIs are welcome ( [email protected] , [email protected] ).
