The School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) at Arizona State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholar in Astrophysics
Applications are invited for one postdoctoral position to work in collaboration with Prof. Frank Timmes. The appointee will conduct research in support of the Arizona State University node of the NSF Physics Frontier Center JINA-CEE (Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics - Center for the Evolution of the Elements). The initial appointment is for two years with subsequent annual renewal for up to one additional year contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the university, and availability of resources. The earliest start date is September 1, 2018. This position comes with a competitive salary and benefits. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Astronomy or Astrophysics or related field by the start date, and a research background in one or more of the following topics, broadly interpreted: nuclear astrophysics, stellar evolution, and/or computational fluid dynamics. Desired qualifications include demonstrated experience using the Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA) and/or the FLASH software instruments. Candidates must be within five years from receipt of the doctoral degree.
