Postdoc positions, star formation, SHAO

The Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO), Chinese Academy of Sciences invite applications for 1-2 postdocs for star formation studies.

The postdocs will work in projects on star formation using ALMA, JVLA, SMA, FAST and other telescopes, led by Dr. Tie Liu and Dr. Xing Lu. Independent research is also encouraged. The salary and research budget are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

The postdocs will spend 2 years at SHAO, with additional 1 year pending satisfactory performance. The postdoc positions are open to applicants of any nationality who will graduate prior to their appointment, with a preference for those who received their PhD after January 2019, per requirement by the China Postdoctoral Office.

We are involved in several ongoing ALMA PI projects (e.g., ATOMS, ALMASOP) as well as three ALMA Large Programs (e.g., ALMA-IMF, ALMAGAL, and ACES) that focus on Galactic star formation, which add up to more than 2000 hours ALMA telescope time. We are also leading or involved in several large programs (e.g., SCOPE, SPACE, BISTRO, and CHIMPS2) at the JCMT 15-m telescope. The postdocs are welcome to freely join any of the projects. 

We have dedicated servers for data reduction and analysis at SHAO, which provide advanced computing power for parallel processing of massive data from ALMA or other telescopes.

Start date: negotiable, as soon as possible
