Staff Writer, Astronomy.com

Kalmbach Media, a publisher of science and hobby magazines and websites, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and inquisitive staff writer for its growing Astronomy.com website. This position will be heavily focused on writing web articles that will support our digital growth goals. You will play an integral role in helping us deliver more frequent content across our website dedicated to reporting on the latest astronomical news, science, sky events and spaceflight journeys for our large online audience.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write 8+ articles per week for Astronomy.com, including informational pieces, news and embargoed studies, and trending topics.
• Utilize engaging headlines and ledes, as well as SEO best practices where appropriate.
• Pitch new story ideas across all content categories, aimed at supporting website traffic goals.
• Collaborate with the Astronomy digital editor on weekly web coverage and new content opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or relevant discipline.
• 2-4 years’ experience writing content for the web.
• Interest in/knowledge of astronomy topics.
• Ability to write clean copy at a high frequency.
