Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2018.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,750 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 20 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 229 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News and World Report.

Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching, including both science and non-science majors. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate education, take an active role in the curricular development of the Physics program at UT, involve undergraduate students in research as part of the experiential learning mission of The University, and provide service to the department, the college, and The University community. Current physics faculty have active research programs in computational and observational astronomy, and preference will be given to applicants with research that adds to or complements these areas. The University encourages the attendance of its faculty at professional meetings by providing funds for travel. Institutional grants are available within the College of Natural and Health Sciences to provide support for teaching innovation, research, research travel, and publication costs.

A Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or other closely related field is required.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Start-up funds are available.
