Job Announcement Text:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Florence (Italy) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from researchers with strong background in astrophysics. The Fellowship is funded by the European Research Council through the ERC Starting Grant MW-WINDS, led by Prof. Enrico Di Teodoro.

As a part of the MW-WINDS project, we are building up a strong research team to study gas flows in the Milky Way and in the Magellanic Clouds, both from an observational and from a theoretical point of view. We encourage applications from candidates with either observational expertise (in particular in the analysis of gas emission-line data) or theoretical expertise (semi-analytic models and/or hydrodynamical simulations).

The candidates must hold a PhD in Physics or Astrophysics by the deadline of this call for application. The appointment is initially offered for two years, with the possibility of a further one- or two-year extension. The earliest starting date is March 1st 2023. The gross salary will be of 27,000 €/year (roughly 2000€/month after social security witholding). Non-italian applicants will also receive an integration of 6,000€ for the Mobility Allowance. Generous research and travel funds will be available.

Applications must be submitted by February 1st, 2023 at 10.00 am (GMT+1) using the documents (p. 20 for English) available at:

https://titulus.unifi.it/albo/viewer?view=files%2F004847310-UNFICLE-5248...

Beside the above documents, the candidates are required to arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to [email protected].

For additional information about the research project or about administrative procedures, interested candidates can get in touch with the scientific coordinator, Prof. Enrico Di Teodoro, [email protected]
