Job Description

Postdoctoral research fellows in Exoplanets - University of Warwick

The Department of Physics seeks to appoint two Research Fellows to work in the Astronomy and Astrophysics group in the field of exoplanet observations. The appointments will run for four years, starting on or before 1st April 2023.

The fellows will work with Dr. David Armstrong as part of the UK Frontier Research Grant (previously ERC Starter Grant) “Investigating the nature and origins of planets in the Neptunian Desert”. The post is expected to be primarily observational and/or data analysis, and can flexibly focus on a number of relevant topics in the exoplanet field, with all research targeted towards building an understanding of planets in and near the desert.

Applicants must hold or be about to attain a PhD in astrophysics and have a proven/developing research track record. The ideal candidate will be capable of working effectively independently and as part of a team. Experience in observational astronomy, particularly exoplanet discovery, characterisation, internal structure or population studies is desirable. Time will be available for independent research that aligns with the overall goals of the grant.

The post is available immediately, with the start date being flexible to accommodate external circumstances. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, especially those from underrepresented groups.

Informal inquiries are welcomed to Dr. David Armstrong ([email protected]).

The closing date for application is 30 November 2022. For full position information, and details on how to apply, visit http://tinyurl.com/bde7xvcw.
