This is the position of Astrophysicist (Post-Doctoral Research Fellow) with the Parker Solar Probe SWEAP team, which is part of the High Energy Astrophysics Division. The purpose of this position is to train postdoctoral researchers to conceive, plan, and conduct specialized original research in astrophysics. The employee will be expected to pursue a research program that is broadly aligned with the objectives of the NASA Parker Solar Probe mission. This could include contributions in solar physics, heliophysics, plasma physics, stellar astrophysics, space weather, or other related fields. 

 

Duties of this job may entail, but are not limited to, conducting a program of research and scholarship in the area of astrophysics, focusing on thermal solar wind plasma; assisting in the development of software and procedures of the reduction, analysis, and interpretation of data as needed; or assisting in the development of analytical methods and/or software to model physical processes and conditions; assisting in the development of scientific instrumentation for the collection of data to study the solar wind, as needed; and supporting the development of proposals for research funding pertaining to solar wind physics.
