The Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences (CASS, http://cass.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego seeks an outstanding postdoctoral scholar to work with Prof. Alison Coil in studies of outflowing galactic winds. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics and will be familiar with astronomical observations, data reduction, and analysis algorithms and will have experience working with spectroscopic data. The successful applicant will use multi-wavelength imaging data combined with Keck spectroscopy to lead emission and absorption line studies to characterize the properties of galactic outflows and their host galaxies. The candidate will have the opportunity to use existing datasets as well as conduct new observations at the Keck and Lick observatories.
Funding is available for 2 years, beginning summer of 2019, with a third year contingent upon funding and progress. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
