Postdoctoral Fellowship in multi-wavelength observations of high-z galaxies

The Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship from brilliant researchers with a strong background in Astrophysics. The Fellowship is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant WINGS (Winds in galaxies, GA n. 101040227) recently awarded to the PI of the SNS Cosmology group, Dr. Stefano Carniani. The Cosmology group at SNS currently includes about 30 members and is a highly dynamic research and learning environment.

The successful candidate is required to have extensive experience in the analysis of spectroscopic data from multi-wavelength observing programs as she/he will work with both ground- and space-based telescopes (VLA, ALMA, VLT, JWST) to constrain the properties of galactic outflows and determine their impact. The candidate must hold a PhD in Physics or Astrophysics.

This appointment will be an exciting opportunity to work with JWST data as Dr. Carniani is part of the Guaranteed Time Observing NIRSpec/JWST team and was also awarded 21 hours during Cycle 1 to study the properties of high-z galaxies.

The appointment is initially offered for two years, with the possibility of a further one-year extension based on performance. The gross salary will be of 42,500 €/year. Generous research and travel funds will also be available.
