Facilities at IUCAA include a network of state-of-the-art computers, high performance computing clusters, high speed internet connections, a very well equipped instrumentation laboratory, and a library containing an excellent collection of books and periodicals.

IUCAA operates a 2-m optical telescope at IUCAA Girawali Observatory (IGO) located 80 kms away from Pune. IUCAA is also a partner in the 10-m class Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) meant for imaging and spectroscopic observations of faint and distant objects. IUCAA is a major participant in space-based Indian Astronomy missions AstroSat (current) and Aditya - L1 (upcoming), as well as in future large projects including LIGO-India and the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).

In addition to the regular post-doctoral positions, a few positions are available in selected research areas. Please check the IUCAA web site for the list of research areas in which additional post-doctoral positions are available in a given year. (This number is periodically updated and the candidate is free to apply to multiple subject areas.)

Successful candidates will normally be expected to commence their fellowship during August 2021.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Range
$8,900USD to $14,000USD
Included Benefits

Rent free accommodation is provided on/off campus, subject to availability. Alternatively House Rent Allowance is paid which is currently 24% of the monthly fellowship.  Selected candidates can also avail of  medical and other beneifts as per IUCAA/Government of India norms.

Compensation Notes

All fellowships are paid in Indian Rupees.
