Applications are invited for two post-doctoral researcher positions at the Astronomy Department of the University of Geneva, within the group of Prof. Tassos Fragos.
The positions focus on gravitational-wave astrophysics, stellar astrophysics and high-energy astrophysics, including but not limited to:
- evolution of binary stars
- modelling of stellar interiors and late stages of stellar evolution
- population synthesis studies
- interpretation and modelling of gravitational-wave data
- computational hydrodynamics
- stellar dynamics
- statistics and machine-learning applications on astrophysical problems
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within the newly founded, inter-departmental, Gravitational-Wave Science Center (GWSC) of the University of Geneva and the POSYDON collaboration, as well as become members of the Einstein Telescope Collaboration and the LISA Consortium.
Applications should consist of (i) a cover letter, (ii) a statement outlining the candidate’s past research work and proposed future directions (<3 pages), and (iii) a CV including a publication list. Applications should be sent as a single PDF file to [email protected]. Candidates should also arrange for three letters of reference to be e-mailed independently to the same address.
Complete applications received by 15 July 2022 will receive full consideration, but the positions will remain open until filled. The starting date of the appointments is 1 September 2022, although later dates may be possible. The initial appointments will be for two years. Preliminary inquiries may be addressed via e-mail to [email protected].
