Postdoctoral Research Scholar in High Energy Astrophysics
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in high energy astrophysics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Philip Kaaret on HaloSat, a CubeSat to study oxygen line emission from the hot halo of the Milky Way that was recently begin operations. Depending on the interests and abilities of the candidate and the availability of funding, it may also be possible to work on X-ray data analysis using Chandra and XMM-Newton and new space instrumentation. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy. Experience in X-ray instrumentation and data analysis is preferred.
