Job Description

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Position in Galaxy evolution in different environments (Post doc position - D.D. 34/2018) at the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), Padova Observatory.

The Padova Observatory is one of the main structures of INAF, a network of 17 research institutes spread throughout Italy. INAF is a world leading institute and is a major partner of ESO.

The appointee will work in the extragalactic group in Padova and will focus on observational studies in the areas of galaxy evolution, with particular attention to the physical processes that affect galaxy properties in the different environments. He/she will combine state-of-the-art integral field and/or integrated spectroscopic and photometric observations at different wavelengths. 

A fraction of the time will be available for independent research, and independent collaborations are encouraged.

The position is offered for 1 years, renewable, with anticipated starting date around February/March 2019, negotiable.

Applicants should have a PhD in physics, astronomy or related subject by the time of the appointment. Experience in IFU/ integral spectroscopy, photometry and galaxy evolution in different environments will be a plus.
