POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is seeking a post-doc with experience in direct imaging to work with SCExAO/MEC and MagAO-X/ARCONS. The successful applicant will use both of these cutting instruments to do direct imaging science on exoplanets, brown dwarfs, and disks. In addition, the applicant will have the opportunity to do some instrumentation work focused on push on fast focal plane CDI to improve contrast as well as the freedom to develop their own projects. The start date for the position will be October 10, 2022 or later.
The initial appointment is for 2 years. There is a possibility of extensions contingent on performance and continued funding. Questions about this position should be directed to the Department using the help contact email address below.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. or similar degree in the fields of Astronomy, Physics, related fields OR be currently enrolled in a PhD program at time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
A Ph.D. in the fields of Astronomy, Physics, or related field is required by time of appointment.
Preferred qualifications
It is preferred that the candidate have experience in direct imaging observations and data analysis, or in an adjacent field, but not required.
