Applications are invited for two Research Associate in Cosmology positions.
The posts will be held at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics (JBCA) at the University of Manchester, working in the group of Dr Laura Wolz on HI Intensity mapping with the SKA and its pathfinders. The positions are funded through the UKRI Future Leader Fellowship award ‘Mapping the cosmic web with neutral hydrogen during the era of the Square Kilometre Array’. Positions are available for start after 01.04.2022 for the duration of 3 years.
You will work on data reduction, data processing methodology, data inference methods, and mock data simulations in the context of HI Intensity Mapping. You will have access to SKA pathfinder data from South African array MeerKAT and Australian array ASKAP and will also be involved in preparations for the future HI intensity Mapping surveys by the SKA. The posts will involve working on single-dish data and simulations observing the largest scales of the structure distribution as well as interferometric data and simulations accessing the smaller scales. You will have a background in cosmology and be familiar with HI Intensity Mapping. You should have some experience in either single-dish HI intensity mapping (simulations or data analysis), or interferometric radio observations preferably in the context of cosmology (e.g. Epoch of Reionization experiments, Radio Weak Lensing).
