Tenure Track Professorship at Universidad de Valparaiso

The Institute of Physics and Astronomy of Universidad de Valparaíso (IFA-UV, Chile) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Extragalactic Astrophysics. We seek a highly qualified applicant with a PhD in Astronomy (or related field), at least three years of professional experience, and a record of excellence in research. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is highly desirable. Applicants will be expected to teach in Spanish within 2 years.

IFA-UV is located in Valparaíso, a city declared world heritage site by UNESCO. Our fast growing institute is composed of 23 professors, 12 postdocs, and 20 graduate students. While working at IFA-UV (www.ifa.uv.cl), the candidate will qualify as member of the Chilean community with privileged access to 10% of the time on all astronomical observatories in Chile, including ESO/Paranal, Gemini-South, Magellan, CTIO, ALMA, APEX and in the future ELT, GMT, and LSST. The salary is the standard scale for professors in Chilean public universities.
