The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Hawai`i at Hilo (UHH) invites applications for a one-year temporary faculty position in physics or astronomy. The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is a highly diversified, regional university, part of the University of Hawai`i system. Scholarship and research are an important part of faculty work and student engagement, but the primary focus is on providing high-quality baccalaureate and limited postgraduate education. The Physics and Astronomy Department at UHH offers a B.S. in Astronomy and B.A. in Physics. Faculty have access to the entire suite of observational facilities on the summit of Mauna Kea through a competition-based process. UHH has close working connections with `Imiloa Astronomy Center, headquarters of all Mauna Kea observatories, and the Institute for Astronomy.
