The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications for CITA National Fellowships. The astronomy group at the University of Waterloo consists of 15 research-active faculty members, and is currently expanding due to major new investment. As part of this, it is likely that a new centre for astronomy and cosmology will soon be formed within the University. Research is undertaken in several areas including cosmology, large-scale structure, CMB, gravitational lensing, black holes, galaxies, clusters, quasars and sub-mm astronomy, with interests in a number of future experiments including Euclid, CCAT, CFIS, and LSST (https://uwaterloo.ca/astrophysics-and-gravitation). The group has a close connection to the Perimeter Institute (https://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/), which is located just a short walk away.
We welcome applications for fellowship positions from excellent candidates in any field of astronomy and cosmology that would enhance the research program of the department. Fellows would be expected to undertake a program of original research either independently or in collaboration with others in the group.
Candidates should submit electronically a curriculum vitae, bibliography, statement of proposed research, and ask three referees to send letters of recommendation before the closing date of November 1, 2017 via email to: email@example.com. The details of selected candidates will be submitted for the CITA fellowship program by November 15th. All applications will automatically be considered for other available postdoctoral positions in Waterloo. Informal inquiries about these positions can be made to Niayesh Afshordi (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The University of Waterloo respects, appreciates and encourages diversity. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals including women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
