Postdoctoral position on strong lensing at the Technical University of Munich

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The successful applicant will work with Prof. Sherry Suyu on cosmology and galaxy formation/evolution using gravitational lenses, particularly on strong lensing and dynamical modelling of galaxies. TUM has direct access to the full suite of ESO observing facilities. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing/future imaging surveys including the Rubin LSST. Previous experience in analysis of spatially resolved kinematic data, imaging data, gravitational lensing, and/or supernovae would be beneficial but is not required. The successful applicant will be encouraged to pursue additional independent research projects. The appointment is for two years, and can be renewed for the third year subject to performance and funding. The astrophysics research group at TUM has close ties with the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA). TUM, MPA and the neighboring institutes in Garching/Munich host a strong research program in astrophysics and provide a stimulating environment.

The appointment is expected to begin in October 2022 and requires the completion of a PhD.
