Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for one postdoctoral position in the group of Prof. Lucas Labadie at the 1st Physics Institute (PH1) of the University of Cologne. The institute is strongly involved in international projects (VLT/I, LBT, ELT, JWST, ALMA). The position is offered within the DFG-funded collaborative project NAIR. This collaboration between the Cologne-University, the Landessternwarte-Heidelberg and the Leibniz-Institut-for-Astrophysics-Potsdam brings together experts of astronomical instrumentation and photonics in the area of astrophotonics to foster the development of remapping functions based on integrated optics for spectroscopy and high resolution imaging. The successful candidate will lead the instrumentation and technology program at PH1 to develop in the laboratory new infrared integrated beams combiners to a level suitable for on-sky prototyping. Measurements, reporting and data publishing will be a significant contribution. Depending on the profile, the successful candidate is encouraged to pursue astrophysical research making use of the facility which we have access to. Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Astronomy, Physics, or related discipline with a strong background in astronomical instrumentation and a proven record of contributed projects. Working language is English. The position is for 2+1 years. The salary is based on the E13-TV-L scale. Women, minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should send by 15.05.2017 a single PDF file containing a CV, a publication list, and a statement of research to [email protected].
