Tenure Track Faculty Position, Assistant Professor, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Florida International University, Miami

The Department of Physics at Florida International University, Miami, Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in any area of astronomy, astrophysics, or planetary science.  The position will commence in Fall 2020. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., be able to secure research funding, teach, and mentor our diverse student population.

FIU is a member of the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA; http://saraobservatory.org/) with guaranteed access to 1-meter class telescopes at Kitt Peak National observatory, Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory, and the Roque de los Muchachos observatory in the Canary Islands. Department and University facilities include an on-campus observatory with a 24” telescope used for research, teaching, and outreach. Members of the Physics Department are affiliated with on-campus centers such as the STEM Transformation Institute (https://stem.fiu.edu/) and the Center for Women and Gender Studies (https://cwgs.fiu.edu/).
