Applicants are invited to apply for two post-doctoral research associates in the field of extragalactic astronomy, in particular the generation of large scale  outflows  and their impact on galaxy formation, to work with Prof. Joseph Gelfand at NYU Abu Dhabi.  Candidates with experience in one or more of the following fields:

• radio spectral line observations, especially HI, both with single dish and interferometric radio telescopes,
• integral field unit (IFU) observations (e.g., MaNGA, CALIFA, SAMI),
• VLBI radio observations, and/or
•  sub-mm / mm observations of external galaxies

are especially invited to apply.  As a researcher at NYU, the successful candidates would be members of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey collaboration, and would be encouraged to develop and pursue additional research projects with professors at NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York.  Currently, the astrophysics group at NYU Abu Dhabi consists of nine professors and over ten research scientists working on topics ranging from topics as diverse as the atmospheres of hot Jupiters, the physics of neutron stars, accretion onto stellar and super-massive black holes to numerical simulations of galaxy formation.

The successful applicants must have a Ph.D in astronomy, astrophysics, physics or related field, and expected to be able to begin no later than 2018 September 1.

The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
