Astrophysicist (Postdoctoral Research Fellow)
Trust Fund (Non-Federal), two-years, with possible 1 year extension

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), a member of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, to work with Dr. Aneta Siemiginowska and Dr. Dan Schwartz within the High Energy Astrophysics Division. The successful candidate will carry out independent research and perform analysis and interpretation of new and archival X-ray observations of radio loud quasars and extragalactic jets, and in particular, work with the new data collected by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Candidates with proven expertise and experience in astronomical data analysis, statistical methods, black hole theory/modeling, and jet physics are encouraged to apply.

SAO hosts a large number of dynamic, collaborative, and multi-wavelength experts. The successful candidate is encouraged to pursue independent research projects. Initial funding will be for two years, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and funding.
