The Department of Astronomy at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is seeking to fill two faculty positions at the level of full and associate professorships on the hardware development related to cosmic microwave background (CMB) detectors. We seek individuals whose research will complement and expand the current research on Transition Edge Sensor (TES), Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID), Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID), and the related astronomical instrumentation.
USTC is among the top-ranked research universities in China. The University is committed to building world-class faculty and providing strong supports for its faculty members. These include internationally competitive packages with ample housing subsidies, generous benefits on medical insurance and pension, large start-up package, and strong assistance to establish new research teams. Salary and rank will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
USTC is deeply involved in the Chinese CMB project: Ali CMB Polarization Telescope (AliCPT) in all aspects: hardware development, theoretical research and data analysis. The research group for hardware development is rapidly growing, and has access to the Microelectronic processing platform (USTC Center for Micro- and Nanoscale Research and Fabrication) and Extreme low temperature test system. The successful applicants will participate in the AliCPT project.
We encourage candidates to apply through the national recruitment programs, including the Thousand Talents Plan Professorship for Young Talents and the Hundred Talents Program of Chinese Academy of Science - Young Talents (see http://employment.ustc.edu.cn/en/).
