PhD position at CFT, Warsaw, Poland

We invite applications for PhD fellowship financed from the project “Constraints on the dark energy properties based on observations of active galaxies”, PI: Prof. Bożena Czerny.

At the time of application the candidates should either have a MSc degree in physics or astronomy, or will obtain it before signing the contract.

The topic of the student research will be focused on modeling continuum variability in active galaxies in different wavelength bands, and using that to constrain the cosmological parameters. More information can be obtained directly from Prof. Czerny. The research will be done at the institute, but the PhD courses will be implemented as part of the "Geoplanet" Doctoral School.

Candidates should submit before June 15, 2021, the following documents to the Secretariat of the Center, at [email protected]:

1. The scientific CV, including the list of major scientific achievements, list of publications, participation in research projects and conferences, and the document must contain a statement: “I consent to the processing of my personal data for the needs of the recruitment process (in accordance with the Law dated 29.08.97 on the protection of personal data (Journal of Laws, No. 101, item 926)”.

3. Transcript of grades (Bachelor and Master degree courses)

4. Personal questionnaire form (should be downloaded from CTP web site)

5. At least one recommendation letter, including the letter from the MSc advisor

6. Certified copy of the MSc diploma or the letter from the supervisor about the prospects for completion of the Thesis before the beginning of the employment

The scholarship will amount to PLN 4,500 per month. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview via video conferencing no later than 25 June 2021. Admission to the PhD School and work for the project are scheduled for 1 October 2021.
