Job Description

The TESS Science Office Manager will manage the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) Science Office (TSO). Will manage and supervise the activities of a six-person team of scientists and technical staff, generating, vetting, and updating the list of over 5,000 planet candidates for follow-up observations.  Responsibilities include coordinating the execution, maintenance, and feature advancements for the TESS Quick-Look Pipeline (QLP) and associated tools with the QLP lead, as well as the vetting process for planet candidates generated by the pipeline; infrastructure and tool planning, including QLP and other tool enhancements, storage and data management, and coordination with members of the IT technical staff and project leadership; representing the TESS Science Office in coordination with external partners, managing the TESS interface to the TESS Follow-up Program (TFOP), and overseeing the TESS Objects of Interest (TOI) Steering Committee vetting activities in with the TOI lead; representing TSO interests in communications with external project partners and the scientific community as appropriate; coordinating with TESS scientists, engineers, and leadership for planning, inputs, and technical analysis; and performing other duties as requested.

Job Requirements: B.Sc. in astrophysics, aerospace engineering, or related field, Experience with TESS or similar data, Familiarity with Linux command line, Ability to work in and lead within a team-based environment across all levels and to communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels, and meticulous attention to detail. 

Preferred: Experience with personnel management and supervision and with science communications and media coverage.
