Job Description

Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral position at the Chungbuk National University (CBNU) starting in January 2021 (the starting date is negotiable), to work with Prof. Kimitake Hayasaki on the theory of tidal disruption events (TDEs) and/or the other topic noted below.

Department of Physics of UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) hosts "Center for High Energy Astrophysics (CHEA)", a research center supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Current research topics of CHEA include (1) TDEs as well as explosive phenomena related to them (2) interaction between the gas (and/or stars) and binary supermassive black holes. The CHEA postdoctoral position is offered for up to 2 years (initially for one year and for one more year after evaluation) and further extensions possible in another format. The salary is on the level of postdoctoral fellows of Korean research institutes and commensurate with experiences. Funds for research expenses are also provided. A successful candidate is expected to stay at the CBNU and work with Prof. Kimitake Hayasaki for half of his/her time. The other half time is available for independent researches of his/her own interests.
