Job Description

The Department of Astrophysics at the University of Vienna is offering a 3-year postdoctoral research position in the group of Prof. Oliver Hahn.

We seek an outstanding candidate to work in our research team to further develop numerical, statistical, or theoretical techniques in the context of cosmology (with a focus on large-scale structure) or extragalactic astrophysics. Researchers with a strong background in cosmological simulations or machine learning applied to cosmology/astrophysics are particularly encouraged to apply.

We offer a stimulating research environment with staff working in various areas of astrophysics and cosmology. Our team has privileged access to the Vienna Scientific Cluster super-computing facility. Generous financial support for computing equipment and travel is available.

You should have a PhD degree in astrophysics or physics with affinity for programming, or in computer science or applied mathematics with affinity for cosmology/astrophysics. Some participation in teaching and co-supervision of students is part of the job profile. The successful candidate will be able to contribute actively to the research profile of both the Department for Astrophysics and the Department of Mathematics of the University of Vienna.
