Job Description

The Physics Department of Ariel University is seeking qualified candidates for Postdoc and PhD positions in exoplanet science, in the research group of Dr. Lev Tal-Or. Lev’s primary research interests are:

  • Planet detection by means of Doppler spectroscopy.
  • Transiting-planet detection and characterization.
  • Atmospheric characterization of planets.
  • Stellar activity.

Postdoc candidates should hold a PhD in physics, astrophysics, planetary sciences, computer science, or equivalent. PhD candidates should have a master’s degree in one of these fields. The research work consists of numerical data analysis and astronomical observations. Preference will be given to excellent researchers and students, with experience in one of the above fields.

We seek enthusiastic and devoted candidates, willing to work in a dynamic environment, and capable of fastly developing new skills. A successful candidate will benefit from access to a high-performance computational facility, travel funds, and strong ties with the CARMENES consortium. The Postdoc employment will be for 2 years, with a possible extension to a third year. PhD positions are for 4 years. One-year internship for students already enrolled in a PhD program is also possible.

The annual fellowship is set by a predetermined matrix from the University. The start date is expected to be Summer 2020, and is negotiable.
