Job Description

Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for an immediate postdoc opening in the plasma astrophysics. We seek candidates with background in particle acceleration, turbulence, and magnetic reconnection. Experiences in theoretical and computational plasma physics and astrophysics are highly desirable. The successful candidates are encouraged to collaborate on the current projects carried out at LANL, and they will also be able to develop his/her own research programs. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible third year extension.

Minimum Requirements: PhD in Plasma Physics and Astrophysics or related areas

Desired Skills: Theoretical and computational modeling

Education: PhD in related fields completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.

The position is offered by the Nuclear and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology group within the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Candidates may be considered for a Director's Postdoc Fellowship and Chick Keller Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious Feynman, Hoffman, Oppenheimer, or Reines Distinguished Postdoc Fellowships.

Additional Details:

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
