Postdoctoral Research Associate in Galaxy Formation and Evolution
Job Summary
Job Description
Salary: £33,309 - £40,927 per annum
Two positions are open, at the Kavli Institute for Cosmology and Department of Physics of the University of Cambridge, for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Galaxy Formation and Evolution.
The aim of the roles is to work in collaboration with the team led by Prof. Roberto Maiolino and of a new lecturer (who will be announced shortly) on the analysis and interpretation of observational data to investigate the physical processes driving galaxy evolution (including, possibly, their interplay with black hole accretion), also through comparison with cosmological simulations and theoretical models. In particular, it is expected that the successful applicants will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of data coming from observing facilities and surveys that the team has been actively exploiting, such as ALMA, ESO-VLT, SDSS4-MANGA, and also from forthcoming observing facilities in which the team is heavily involved, such as JWST and MOONS@VLT. More information about the research activities of the team can be found at https://www.kicc.cam.ac.uk and https://www.robertomaiolino.net
Applicants should have a PhD in Astronomy or Astrophysics or a closely related discipline (or should have a PhD in these areas by the time they start the job).
Applicants should upload their Curriculum Vitae (CV), a covering letter and Statement of Research Interests (two pages maximum) in the upload section of the online application by the closing date of Monday 10th January 2022.
