Job Announcement Text:

Applicants are sought for a postdoctoral researcher or senior postdoctoral researcher position at Louisiana State University to work in the area of time-domain, multimessenger astrophysics. The researcher will work in Professor Eric Burns's group on analysis of on-going high energy missions, multi-mission data analysis, and software and theoretical development to support these efforts.

The primary focus will be to understand transient events that are, or may be, sources of multiple messengers, e.g. gamma-ray bursts, core-collapse supernova, magnetar giant flares, etc. This can be achieved through theory and/or simulation advancement, and multi-mission data analysis. A key goal of this work is interdisciplinary results with other fields of physics, such as gravitation and supranuclear matter. Additionally, the researcher will assist in the mentoring graduate students, develop software related to the primary scientific goals, and to publish papers and present at conferences. National and international travel may be required.

The senior postdoctoral research will additionally be expected to lead independent research projects related to the core science goals of the group. Expansion of the existing areas of expertise is ideal; mentor graduate students, play a key role in the development of software related to the primary scientific goals, and to publish papers and present at conferences.

Qualifications: (Both levels) PhD in physics or related field with Experience in a related field, e.g. astrophysics, gravitation, dense matter. (Senior level) requires 3 years of related experience.

Preferred qualifications: Applicants should detail relevant experience in software development, multimessenger science, time-domain studies, transient reporting, and interdisciplinary analysis. Experience in one or more of these areas is preferred but not required.
