Job Description

Post-doctoral Fellow in High-Energy Astrophysics in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 497176)

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in High-Energy Astrophysics in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 497176), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Astronomy.  Those who are in the process of completing a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Astronomy will also be considered.  Expertise in radio or X-ray astronomy, in particular, related to polarimetry, is desirable.  The appointee will work with Dr. Stephen C.Y. Ng to pursue research in areas related to neutron stars, pulsar wind nebulae, or supernova remnants.  He/She will process radio polarization maps of these objects to perform simulations for future X-ray polarimeter missions.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
